Ivenix to Showcase Novel Infusion Delivery System at HIMSS18
The Ivenix Infusion System is architected from the ground up to streamline medication delivery and bring infusion technology into the digital age
BOSTON AND LAS VEGAS, February 21, 2018 – Ivenix, a medical technology company with a vision to eliminate infusion-related patient harm, is bringing its innovative infusion system to HIMSS 2018 Conference and Exhibition, where more than 40,000 health IT professionals will gather March 5-9 in Las Vegas. Ivenix will participate in the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase, which features a Transplant Use Case Demonstration. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience medical device interoperability with electronic medical records and other hospital information systems to streamline patient care and clinician communication.
Ivenix has developed an infusion platform to address an industry fraught with medication errors. Infusion-related errors account for more than 50 percent of the 1.5 million adverse drug events reported annually to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Between 2015 and 2017, more than 23,000 pump malfunctions, including subsequent injuries, were reported to the FDA.
“Ivenix is rethinking infusion delivery to raise the bar in infusion safety, simplicity and interoperability,” said Sue Niemeier, MHA, BSN, RN, chief nursing officer at Ivenix. “Today’s pumps interoperate, but not well, and infusion data is not being used to its full potential. The Ivenix Infusion System aligns infusion data with patient data from multiple sources, allowing clinicians to see the full picture, which enables better decisions at every step of patient care.”
The Ivenix Infusion System architecture begins with interoperability and security at the onset, which allows for quality, secure data communicated in a way that’s designed to make infusion delivery safer and more efficient. The system features a smartphone-like user interface, a mobile clinical viewer to support clinician management of multiple patients and their infusions, and adaptive pump technology with active air elimination that reduces nuisance alarms and interruptions. The Ivenix large volume pump auto-programs and auto-documents with electronic medical records (EMRs) and barcoded medication administration (BCMA) systems to reduce manual programming steps.
