Come See How We’re Bringing the Future of Infusion to Healthcare Today
The Fresenius Kabi Team
From November 13-16, the HLTH 2022 conference takes place at The Venetian Expo in Las Vegas, bringing together more than 8,000 healthcare innovators from around the world to push the entire ecosystem forward. Fresenius Kabi will be providing hands-on demonstrations of the future of infusion therapy for healthcare professionals.
Healthcare settings like busy hospitals can be complex and often chaotic. Alarms are beeping constantly and, if a nurse or other clinician ignores the wrong one, the consequences for the patient can be dire.
A patient’s infusion pump should not add to the chaos. That’s why, at Fresenius Kabi, we have designed a system that provides infusion without confusion — safely, accurately, and efficiently.
First, do no harm — as care providers, we all strive to provide safe care, and that’s the foundation for the design of the Ivenix Infusion System. First, the pump delivers until the bag is empty, so clinicians can rest assured patients receive their prescribed dosage, which is often critical, especially for oncology drugs or time-critical antibiotics.
Next, it delivers a consistent flow that remains consistent no matter where the bag is placed (even if the patient is on the move) because both the primary and secondary infusions are controlled. The pump can be moved from a pole to a travel bed, and nurses don’t have to worry about pumping accuracy — they can devote their attention to the patient.
The Ivenix Infusion System was also designed to protect nurses who often work with medications that could be hazardous if they make contact with exposed skin. Nurses don’t have to break the line to remove air. They simply need to push a button on the pump to empty air into a syringe or another bag on the secondary port. This addresses concerns of accidental exposure.
We also make it simple for nurses. Programming the Ivenix Infusion System is intuitive, with guided workflows on a full-color, easy-to-read touchscreen. The infusion can be fully set up and programmed, placed in standby mode, and when the patient arrives, all one needs to do is press a button. Just as important, the system won’t constantly alarm practitioners of what they already know — that it’s in standby mode. Alarm fatigue is a serious problem in healthcare. We’ve designed the Ivenix Infusion System so that, if you hear an alarm, you’ll know that it’s something you truly need to pay attention to.
It’s easy and hassle-free for IT and engineering. We know that the engineering staff works on many projects simultaneously with constantly shifting priorities. Again, the infusion system shouldn’t increase the complexity of their work, so the Ivenix Infusion System is designed to be simple to deploy, maintain, and locate, all while remaining secure.
The Ivenix Infusion System automatically downloads security patches when they become available, and it employs authenticated and encrypted WiFi and HTTPS communications with built-in firewalls to thwart cyberattacks that could disrupt patient care.
And it’s simple to maintain because there’s never any preventive maintenance needed and there is no scheduled reason to collect a pump. Simple to clean and durable, the Ivenix Infusion System is a reliable workhorse that does its job quietly without requiring attention from IT and engineering.
The Ivenix Infusion System is as close to plug-and-play with other systems as possible because it uses Health Level 7 (HL7) standards-based, bidirectional interfaces. Deploying and managing interfaces takes minimal effort, and its service-oriented architecture monitors and aligns the pump fleet to act as an infusion command center for the entire healthcare system with a centralized drug library, user management tools, and system dashboard. This gives the organization near real-time information on utilization, device status, drug library versions, and battery health for any pump from any location. It’s simple to identify and address anomalies long before they can cause clinical issues.
