Nurses Week 2018: Celebrating Nursing Excellence and Advocacy
An Inspired Nurse Can Change Everything
National Nurses Week—May 6 to 12—is a special time to recognize the dedication, hard work and personal commitment of nurses across the country. On behalf of the entire Ivenix team, I’d like to say thank you for a job well done.
This year’s Nurses Week theme Inspire, Innovate and Influence celebrates nurses’ multi-faceted contribution to healthcare and their role as the voice and advocate for the patient, in particular. Few healthcare professionals have the opportunity to develop the same bond with the people they care for as nurses, who spend significant time at the bedside. We’ve all witnessed clinicians so passionate about caregiving that every day they go the extra distance to truly define the term inspirational.
This year’s theme also reminds us that an important part of the role of patient advocate is being an agent of change when change is needed. Frequently, nurses see opportunities for improvements and become bedside innovators to meet this goal. As opportunities to provide better care progress to other settings, often nurses are called upon to influence leadership and other healthcare decision makers to make a difference. In short, from a patient care perspective, nurses lead the charge for change. And an inspired nurse can change everything.
This year’s American Nurses Association Nurses Week webinar focuses on the role of emerging technologies in nursing practice, highlighting the growing importance of IT and medical device innovation in healthcare today. Clearly, advocating for and influencing implementation of new technology that enhances clinical workflow and safety is an important way nurses can help lead the charge for change. After all, who better to make the case for technology improvement than nurses, who so often are on the front lines at the critical point where the patient and device interact? Nurses can also speak about how well-suited a particular technology is to their needs and clinical environment which is also crucial to its success.
At Ivenix, we share with nurses a commitment to innovation and leading the charge for change to enhance patient care, when change is needed. We’re focused on setting a new standard in performance and safety for a medical device associated with perhaps the largest number of adverse events in hospitals today—the infusion pump. We stand united with you in your efforts to advocate for the patient and your accomplishments in achieving healthcare excellence every day.
